Melanie White-Heron taught high school English and Media Studies in Ottawa where she also worked as a writer and acquisitions editor for McGraw-Hill.

After retiring, she created a writing workshop for adults at a local independent book store which she has facilitated for two years. Her creative nonfiction essay, “Body Language” was published in the literary magazine Thorn and Bloom and her short story, “Seeking Comfort” will be published this summer by Quillkeepers Press.

She is an Uxbridge based writer who works at the intersection of disability and mental illness using the lived experience of her children and family.
